Mast Jagermeister (the wine/vineger company) was founded in 1878 in Wolfenbuttel Germany by Wilhelm Mast and is still family owned and run today by third generation family mambers. In 1934, Wilhelm’s son Curt Mast created and perfected the 56 all natural ingredients known as Jagermeister. The name translated back means ‘master hunter’ which was meant to honor and toast passionate hunters who have immense respect for nature and all of its creatures. The 56 dry ingredients are cold macerated in four different batches for several weeks and then combined and rested in oak barrels for one year to mature all the while undergoing hundreds of quality checks (383 checks). The end result is a very well balanced product containing hints of spice, citrus, ginger, anise and various other herbal bitters with a sweet background and finish. Jagermeister is best served ice cold as a shot but is extremely well suited for your favorite cocktails such as an Old Fashion, Bloody Mary, Mule cocktail etc. Jagermeister is considered a favorite ‘shot brand’ and is best suited for toasting and celebrating with friends and family.
