The compartment is large enough to accommodate many things; a ring, a pendant, a gold coin, or for the man in your life, cufflinks, a collector’s coin, or just a special note from you on Valentine’s Day. You know, I bet the Tooth Fairy would even be delighted to leave her treasure in this box for the sleeping child. Superb craftmanship, finish, & design! The body of the box is cherry & the top is cherry,walnut & maple. The box measures 2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″ X 1 1/4″ deep. The compartment diameter measures 1 3/8″. Chocolate brown felt lines the bottom of the compartment. The lid is held in place with two brass pins. The finish is precatalyzed lacquer, commercial grade, like that which is used on fine furniture. I apply two coats of lacquer, hand-sanding between each coat. This finish provides a very durable finish which will last for years & years. Rings not included with sale. Contact me for shipping costs outside the USA.
